Are Your Kids Sweet on Cereal?

Now, let’s look at a few guidelines for buying cereals, the staple in many household breakfast agendas. In general, if it contains a toy, comic book, spy ring, or anything plastic, odds are the cereal can’t stand on its own merits. You wouldn’t buy a steak just because it had a free lipstick case stuck through its middle, would you? Scare yourself sometime and actually read the ingredient lists for popular cereals. The most prevalent ingredient is detailed first, and the list proceeds from there. If sugar appears in the top five, don’t buy it! You might as well sit your little tyke down and put 5 tablespoons of sugar in a bowl and let him dig in. The American Dietetic Association recommends no more than 6 grams of sugar per serving. My advice is to try to lower that even more.
